No-exam life insurance
Which applicants qualify for fast underwriting, what the process looks like, and how it works if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: inside certain age bands and coverage limits, they approve applicants using the application itself, past medical records, driving records, and other data sources without ordering a physical exam. Decisions for eligible applicants can arrive within hours. Every quote on this site notes whether an exam is required, possibly required, or waived for that specific product.
What it changes
Skipping an exam doesn't skip the underwriting review. The carrier verifies your answers, and any policy issued based on misstatements can be challenged within the first two years. If the underwriting process uncovers additional questions, the carrier may still require testing; you then decide whether to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Typically people under roughly 60, applying for sums up to the carrier's accelerated limit, with no significant health conditions and no tobacco use in the previous twelve months or longer. Some carriers will accept recent doctor visits with lab results instead of a new exam.
When an exam is required, it typically involves a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at your home or workplace in the La Quinta region, conducted at no expense to you. For many applicants in good health, exam results actually lead to a more favorable rating, making it an advantage rather than a burden.
